Many schools that visited the centre this year kindly made useful comments and suggestions following their trip. Unfortunately, we couldn't fit them all in, but apart from the visits mentioned here many groups visited Powis Castle, (approx. 20 minutes from the centre). Celtica, an interactive exhibition bringing alive the Celts and their culture. Powysland Museum and Montgomery Canal Centre. Clywedog Silver Lead Mine, Andrew Logan Museum of Sculpture - This museum uses everyday objects such as plastic, scrap materials and broken mirrors and transforms them into works of art. Or why not visit Trawsfynydd Power Station and Visitor Centre - the first stop is a multimedia Powerhouse theatre. Then the group receive a 'virtual' welcome, telling the story about nuclear energy. Children can hear about the discovery of electricity from Michael Faraday himself and learn through hands-on displays and interactive exhibits, how a nuclear power station operates and the true impact on the environment. There is a range of different projects and workshops for Key Stages 1, 2 and 3, with different options depending on what you require. Options include the Primary Power project on 'Building a Turbine' in groups. A day out can be completed with a nature trail project. There is no charge for visiting or for the education packages.
